VIKTOR FRESO - Bratislava
Viktor Frešo (1974) is one of the most remarkable figures of contemporary art after the year 2000 in the region of former Czechoslovakia.
His work and approach to art are very personal, but at the same time reflect the current situation in society and culture. The artist creates sophisticated concepts and projects, but also works with humor, simplicity, and playful themes. Frešo is also often critical of the art world and the art scene. One of the most fascinating elements of his work is the obvious counterpoint between the emphasis on his huge ego and self-deprecating modesty.
Another of his unique abilities is to reveal the dark side of his soul, regardless of the consequences.
He is interested in direct and efficient visual tools and prefers to evoke an immediate reaction in the viewer.
He often works with unambiguous and catchy slogans. Whether he is intervening in public spaces or exhibits in galleries, Frešo ensures that his creative action is recognizable above all as an unmistakable gesture.
Recently among other things the author devotes himself to the art of sculpture and painting.
